Benefits of Telehealth

Hello all!  Laura Novak, PT, DPT, Cert. MDT here.  Today, I want to talk about how we can help you get back to the activities you love  without even leaving your house.

During these uncertain times, we continue to offer telehealth services to any patient who would like to start or continue therapy from home.  We begin by doing a normal intake as we usually would as if you were coming into our physical clinic.  Then, we schedule an evaluation time slot for your telehealth visit.  Ten minutes before your visit, you will get a text that will link you directly to our virtual waiting room.  Once we are ready to begin, I connect us so that we can talk face to face.

We are still able to go through mobility/range of motion exams, as well as we are able to see how your muscles are working functionally.  For instance, if you have knee pain, I will ask you to go up and down your stairs and I will observe what your Quad and Glut Med muscle are doing.  I note things like your knee buckling, leaning to one side, using momentum, and a hip drop which signifies certain strength impairments.  So, we are still able to conduct motion and strength exams.

Then, we make a plan and set goals together.  As therapists, we are used to designing a treatment plan that works towards making you independent and is patient-driven.  So, we construct exercises that consist of strengthening, balance, and mobility in order to reach full function. We are able to get a comprehensive treatment session in through our face-to-face visit with active patient involvement.  I also link us to an app that allows communication 24/7.

Your safety is our priority, and we are excited to offer this service so that we can still be here for you!

Go to excellcare.net/telehealth and request a session to begin!
